The following intercessions are provided for your use to support the development of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life in our diocese. They are keyed to the liturgical calendar. Please consider including them in your mass intentions.
First Sunday of Advent – November 27, 2022
As we look to the birth of our Savior, that many will be called to follow in His footsteps to minister to His flock, we pray to the Lord.
Second Sunday of Advent – December 4, 2022
That the Holy Spirit, will call men and women, in the same way as he called John the Baptist, to follow Christ as priests, deacons, religious sisters and brothers, we pray to the Lord.
Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary – December 8, 2022
That, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, many will be called to serve in the religious life, we pray to the Lord.
Third Sunday of Advent – December 11, 2022
That the Lord will call members from our flock to “bring glad tidings to the poor and heal the brokenhearted” as a priest, deacon, religious brother or sister, we pray to the Lord.
Fourth Sunday of Advent – December 18, 2022
That many will answer the call to serve Christ as a priest, deacon, sister or brother, just as Joseph did as the Angel commanded, we pray to the Lord.
Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord – December 25, 2022
That young men and women will answer the call to bring the word of God to his flock as priests and
in the consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Feast of the Holy Family – December 30, 2022
For all Catholic families, that they will esteem the grace of each child’s vocation and prayerfully encourage their children to consider being a priest, religious sister or brother, we pray to the Lord.
Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God – January 1, 2023 [Holyday of Obligation]
That Mary, the Mother of God and patroness of Vocations, will nurture, guide and protect all those called to the priesthood, diaconate, and the consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord – January 8, 2023
That, just as the Magi were inspired by the Holy Spirit, young men and women will be inspired to follow in the footsteps of the Lord as priests, deacons and consecrated religious, we pray to the Lord.
The Baptism of the Lord – January 9, 2023
That, like John the Baptist, all those called by the Lord to serve his church will accept his invitation, we pray to the Lord.
Second Sunday in Ordinary Time – January 15, 2023
Lord, we know that You call us to our vocation from the moment of our baptism. Help young men and women answer this call most faithfully, we pray to the Lord.
Third Sunday in Ordinary Time – January 22, 2023
For all men and women called by Jesus to teach the Gospel as priests, deacons, sisters and brothers, that the joy of the Lord will remain their strength during their discernment, formation and mission, we pray to the Lord.
Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time – January 29, 2023, World Day for Consecrated Life - Feb. 2nd
For those called to service for the Lord as priests, sisters and brothers, that they will be encouraged to follow the Lord and faithful to His choice of them, we pray to the Lord.
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time – February 5, 2023
That the grace of the Sacrament will be renewed by the Holy Spirit in all married people present here, we pray to the Lord.
Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time – February 12, 2023, World Marriage Day
For all married couples: that they may continue to give, be able to forgive, and find happiness deepen with the passing of each day. We pray to the Lord.
Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time – February 19, 2023
For perseverance in sincere prayer on the part of the faithful, asking the Lord for holy vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Ash Wednesday – February 22, 2023
That men and women will answer the call of their vocations, denying themselves, taking up their crosses, and following Christ, we pray to the Lord.
First Sunday of Lent – February 26, 2023
That prayer, penance and almsgiving will dispose more men and women to follow the Holy Spirit as He leads them to discover their vocations in Christ, we pray to the Lord.
Second Sunday of Lent – March 5, 2023
For all our priests, who bring us to the mountain of Christ at every Mass and feed us with His transforming love in the sacraments, we pray to the Lord.
Third Sunday of Lent – March 12, 2023
For all those thirsting to know their vocations in Christ, that they will be open to the waters of prayer and drink fully of the Holy Spirit who leads them, we pray to the Lord.
Fourth Sunday of Lent – March 19, 2023
That like the man born blind, we will allow Jesus to open our eyes and hearts to His will and to inspire more men and women to respond to His call to serve Him and His Church as priests, deacons and in the consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Fifth Sunday of Lent – March 26, 2023
That priests, deacons, sisters and brothers who, for the sake of Christ, have suffered the loss of all things, will be strengthened in their vocations to bring many souls to the knowledge of salvation, we pray to the Lord.
Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion – April 2, 2023
For all those being called to share in the passion of Christ as priests, deacons and in the consecrated life, that they will echo His Eternal Words of love and mercy in their own faithfulness to the Father’s will, we pray to the Lord.
The Resurrection of the Lord – April 9, 2023
That the Risen Lord, made known to us through apostolic witness, will bestow upon us more men and women to answer the call to proclaim His life, death and resurrection as priests, deacons, sisters and brothers, we pray to the Lord.
Second Sunday of Easter – April 16, 2023 - Uplift your Priest week starts April 17th
That we may be blessed with priests and consecrated religious to serve as messengers of God’s divine mercy, we pray to the Lord.
Third Sunday of Easter – April 23, 2023
For prayerful openness in our young people, that they will see their vocation discernment as a call to love the Lord and respond generously to His choice of them, we pray to the Lord
Fourth Sunday of Easter – April 30, 2023 - World Day of Prayer for Vocations
That like the man born blind, we will allow Jesus to open our eyes and hearts to His will and to inspire more men and women to respond to His call to serve Him and His Church as priests, deacons and in the consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Fifth Sunday of Easter – May 7, 2023
That the Holy Spirit will guide and comfort men and women discerning their vocations, we pray to the Lord.
Sixth Sunday of Easter – May 14, 2023
That all Catholic mothers will draw close to Mary and nurture openness to the Holy Spirit in the Lord’s call to their children, especially should He honor them with vocations to the priesthood or consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Seventh Sunday of Easter – May 21, 2023 - Solemnity of the Ascension
That Christ, from his seat in heaven, will bless and guide all those called to serve the Him as priests, deacons, sisters and brothers, we pray to the Lord.
Solemnity of Pentecost – May 28, 2023
That those now discerning their vocations will be guided by the Holy Spirit to respond to the Lord’s call with generous hearts, we pray to the Lord.
Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity – June 4, 2023
That those chosen to share the mercy of God as priests, deacons, sisters and brothers will be faithful to the Spirit of Truth who has called them and guides them, we pray to the Lord.
Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – June 11, 2023, Sacred Heart of Jesus/World Priest Day aka World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests – June 16th
That all Catholics will adore the great gift of the Holy Eucharist given to them by Jesus Christ in the hands of His priests to nourish them with His body, and that the Holy Spirit will inspire many more to follow Him, we pray to the Lord.
Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time – June 18, 2023
That Catholic fathers will foster vocation awareness among their children, knowing that they will be helping to reveal the Heavenly Father’s love by their prayer, guidance and example, we pray to the Lord.
Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time – June 25, 2023
For vocations to the priesthood and religious life, especially from among the young people of our parish, we pray to the Lord
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 2, 2023
That men and women called to proclaim the kingdom of God as priests, deacons and in the consecrated life, will be given the strength to overcome every obstacle to their response through prayer and the practice of virtue, we pray to the Lord.
Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 9, 2023
For an increase in laborers to the Lord of the Harvest in response to our prayers for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and the consecrated life, and for the holiness of all those now serving the people of our diocese in these vocations, we pray to the Lord.
Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 16, 2023
That all those now discerning their vocation will be attentive in prayer and active in their response to Jesus the Eternal Word who calls them, we pray to the Lord.
Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 23, 2023
That with dedicated spirits, we will beg the Lord of the Harvest to provide an abundance of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life in our diocese who will help gather the wheat of souls into His barn, we pray to the Lord.
Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – July 30, 2023
That the Holy Spirit will give inspiration and guidance to all those discerning their vocation in Christ, we pray to the Lord.
Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord – August 6, 2023
That those who desire to be “rich in what matters to God” and are discerning a vocation to the consecrated life will be enriched by the Holy Spirit, we pray to the Lord.
Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – August 13, 2023
That those who have been given their vocations as priests, deacons and consecrated men and women will be guided to imitate the Lord’s generosity as they live that gift, we pray to the Lord.
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – August 15, 2023
That through the intercession of our Heavenly mother, we will be blessed with abundant vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time – August 20, 2023
For all those who are troubled in the discernment of their vocation, that they will be blessed by the Holy Spirit with encouragement, insight and the grace of perseverance, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time – August 27, 2023
That trusting in Christ’s words to Peter, all those called to follow the Lord as priests, deacons and in the consecrated life will recognize the gift of their call and follow Him faithfully, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time – September 3, 2023
That all men and women pursuing a vocation to the priesthood or consecrated life will have the discipline and perseverance to follow in the path of Christ, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time – September 10, 2023
For the faithful response of all those being called by Christ to take up their crosses and follow Him as a priest, deacon, sister or brother, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time – September 17, 2023
That those who are called by God to be instruments of His love and mercy in this world will have the courage, generosity and strength to say yes, and that they will receive the support of their families and friends, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time – September 24, 2023, Priesthood Sunday
That there will be an abundance of laborers chosen by the Lord to serve as priests, deacons and in the consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time – October 1, 2023
For the graces of clarity and active response in the discernment of our Heavenly Father’s will for all those considering a vocation to the priesthood or consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time -- October 8, 2023, Deacon Sunday
That men will be open to the voice of the Lord, asking the Holy Spirit and our Blessed Mother to help them recognize and answer His call to serve Him as a priest, deacon or in the consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time -- October 15, 2023
That from the many called to holiness in Christ, those chosen to follow Him more closely in the priesthood and consecrated life will respond with humble readiness, we pray to the Lord.

For a growth in reverence for the gift and mystery of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life and a readiness to give to God what is God’s in response to His call, we pray to the Lord.
Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time -- October 29, 2023
That men and women will be encouraged to love God and their neighbor with the love of Christ and follow Him generously when chosen to serve others as a priest, deacon or in the consecrated religious life, we pray to the Lord.
Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time -- November 5, 2023, National Vocation Awareness Week
That, through the intercession of all the saints, the Lord will grant holy men and women from our community vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, we pray to the Lord.
Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time—November 12, 2023
That young people will be open to God’s call in their lives and respond generously to give their lives to Him in the service of the Church, we pray to the Lord.
