January 7, 2014, WORCESTER, MA – The Office of the Vicar General announced that the former Immaculate Conception Church located at 59 Walnut Street, Fitchburg was sold to Rosaria Colomba of Reading, MA for $309,000. Ms. Rosaria will use the property to benefit the community in memory of her deceased husband. The sales closed on December 20, 2013. The Church was closed in 2010 as part of the parish reconfiguration process in Fitchburg and the property became part of St. Joseph Parish in Fitchburg. Net proceeds of the sale will remain with St. Joseph Parish, as has been the case with all property sales from parish mergers in the Diocese of Worcester.
Fr. Richard Trainor, pastor of St. Joseph, announced the news to parishioners at this past weekend’s Masses.
