Rebecca Fleuridor is the youngest of a family of eleven. I first met her in 2015 at Sainte-Anne School, Camp-Perrin directed by the Oblat Fathers. She was in first grade. Since her mother was unable to pay her tuition, her progress report was held at the school office until I found a benefactor to support her.
Rebecca was born on April 17, 2009. Her biological mother and father left for Port-au-Prince where they both died in the 2010 earthquake. Rebbecca was living with the Fleurido family, who already had eleven children. After the death of her parents, they adopted Rebecca legally. Rebecca is deeply loved by the Fleuridos, and Francis (pictured on left) is her guardian angel. Her step father, Raymond Fleuridor, who was a fisherman, died in January 2015. His body was found along the sea shore.
During the 2015-2016 academic year, Rebecca was adopted by Lucina Pietrowicz, and a deep, loving, and caring connection was quickly established between them. After the devastating Mathieu Hurricane, I visited most of my children during the food distribution. Rebecca's situation was remarkable. The house was completely destroyed and they lost EVERYTHING. This family of eleven children, plus the mother and grandmother, had to take turns sleeping at night. In May 2017, I received the sad news that Rebecca's mother died of a heart attack.
DEO GRACIAS! ALLELUIA! On July 14, 2017, the Fleuridor family moved to "St. James Home," at Gracette. This house was built by Mr. James Senko from Lakewood, WA, for his adopted children of fourteen. Today, St. James Home contains twenty two (22) occupants: 14 Beauzil's family, 6 Fleuridor's family, 1 Michel's family and 1 Petit-Home's family.
Merci Mon Dieu! Ta Bonté Es Infinie!
