Spiritual Support for those with Cancer
The American Cancer Society estimates that approximately 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. Many parishioners are fighting cancer, either as patients or as caregivers. Research strongly suggests that people who put their faith to work before, during, and after cancer treatment are more likely to be optimistic because they believe God has a purpose for them. Among the variety of support groups offered by the Saint Vincent Cancer and Wellness Center(SVCWC), there is one dedicated to the spiritual and sacramental support that the Catholic faith can provide. The monthly meeting is held on the
first Thursday of every month and begins at 11:30 am in the chapel in the Cancer Center, located at 1 Eaton Place. The faith-sharing portion begins at Noon. Both the chapel and meeting take place on the Garden (or lowest) Level of the Center. Validated parking is available adjacent to the facility. For more information contact either Sr. Paula Kelleher or Msgr. Peter Beaulieu at 508-363-6246. The remaining sessions are
Sept. 7, Oct. 5, Nov. 2, and Dec. 7.
