As the first Catholic school in Massachusetts to institute a nationally accredited STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program, SPM is now entering its third year teaching the ‘Project Lead the Way’ curriculum in affiliation with Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
SPM offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum across the academic disciplines including honors sections, 12 Advanced Placement courses and more than 200 Virtual High School (VHS) courses. More than 100 students will have the opportunity to take VHS courses this academic year allowing students access to additional courses including psychology, journalism, environmental science and Mandarin Chinese.
Student driven clubs offer extracurricular activities including, but not limited to, Art, Drama, Math, Economics, Habitat for Humanity, SADD (Students against Destructive Decisions), Liturgical Choir and Mock Trial. In addition, the school has 23 athletic programs including MIAA Division I Varsity, Junior Varsity and Junior High levels. Currently, more than 60% of the current student body participates in at least one athletic program.
